It's been raining for the last few days and I haven't been able to resist torturing my kids with a very bad joke that I first heard back in the halls of Lakeview Elementary School.
Why don't I inflict it on you, too?
Q:If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring?
A:Pilgrims.
OK, possibly the worst joke ever- but I figure that kids need to be exposed to this kind of stuff in the home so they have a good resistance to it later in life...

The kids all have a day off school tomorrow. The older ones are even getting Friday off. I just hope the weather improves so that we can get some gardening done. We have to get our potatoes in soon or suffer the shame of having to buy all of our potatos in the fall.

And now the bad news. It's the bad news that is probably going to turn into very bad news in the near future: Mr. Darcy had been looking much improved, but is now getting worse again. I'll take him to the vet again on Friday, but I'm afraid that they've really done all they can for him. Cats are supposed to live a long time, right?
Ours is only eight years old.
I am SO not ready for Mr. D to go.

Beautiful photo, Beth. I am admiring it as I snicker at your Pilgrim joke - very cute! But I am so sorry for your bad news, Beth. ((hugs))

Thanks for the sympathy. This really sucks, but at least I have kind friends to support me...

(Also, I'm really glad that the joke didn't make you lose any repect you may have had for me!)

I am so sorry for Mr D, does he have some weird tropical disease????

I tell my kids all these loser jokes, I view it as baseline cultural knowledge, we'd be remiss if we didn't help them out with these things.

Poor Mr Darcy. I would be absolutely heartbroken if my Bandit was ill like that. I hope he isn't suffering too much.

oreneta- No, he has a congenital heart problem that is just now manifesting.

Ashley- Heartbroken is right. I try not to cry in front of my kids, but I feel SO terrible about all this.

He looks much, much worse today. I'm really afraid the vet will have to euthanize him tomorrow...

*hugs* for Mr. Darcy and you.

As for the joke, I *totally* know it, as it was in the joke book I had as a kid. Ah, to think what my brain could have achieved, were it not filled to the brim with high-quality jokes like that one ;)

LOL! I told Suzanne that same joke(but as an almost 4 year old, she didn't get it).

Poor Mr. Darcy. We lost Leon the Peon when he was 5 (cancer) and he was still just a baby. But it was a relief when he wasn't suffering anymore. My thoughts are with you.
